Case Study: Nutley, New Jersey Power Outage

On June 10, 2008, Nutley, New Jersey was hit by a power outage affecting 28,000 residents in 9,000 households. At that time, 45% of households were registered with our instant alert technology, and township OEM personnel immediately sprung into action. During the three-day outage, registered users received six different text messages with information on the status of power restoration and steps to take until power was fully restored. Additionally, special needs residents received priority attention, ensuring their critical health needs were immediately met.

Once the lights came on, the Township of Nutley saw a surge in registration, as non-registered residents wanted to make sure they wouldn't be left in the dark in case of future outages or emergences.

Case Study: What If?

What if your town's recreation program could actually help keep citizens safe during a crisis, natural disaster, or health hazard? And what if the same were true not just for recreation programs but also for service requests, municipal licenses, permits, tax and utility payments, community feedback initiatives – you name it.

By centralizing registration information using Gov.I's multi-faceted data management portal, your town can not only streamline service provision across municipal departments and programs but also enable immediate government-to-citizen emergency notifications, alerts, and instruction. Gov.I automatically incorporates registrants' contact information into its comprehensive communications database, and in the event of an emergency, governments can immediately communicate with citizens via multiple media channels ranging from e-mails, faxes, and voice messages to text messages, BlackBerry alerts, and PDA notifications.
